I should get a wide variety of interesting results since I have to restrict the dimensions to 240px wide for the search, which is pretty specific.
Pictured: A stupid thing to say. |
Case in point - I searched the word "Less" and got this image:
This is a ridiculous thought. I assume the author was trying to conjure something romantic.
Some nugget of "wisdom" an aging gray haired female character would say to a younger brunette female character in a Nicholas Sparks novel to inspire the younger to stop approaching relationships so logically...
But aren't butterflies the very first sign of an attraction? That's a pretty low bar to set.
When I met my wife, yes, there were butterflies. There are still butterflies 15 years later, which, in hyperbolic terms would have been a more reasonable but much less catchy thing to say. "Refuse to settle for anything less than sustained bulletproof butterflies capable of weathering multiple hurricanes" doesn't have the same zing.
Less than butterflies would imply that there is no attraction to begin with, so aren't butterflies the bare minimum pre-requisite to any sort of romantic connection?
Maybe I'm wrong, and I won't be looking into the source of this image to verify that because that defeats the purpose of a thought exercise. Maybe this was an actual sign posted on the door of a butterfly sanctuary and anything less than butterflies means there are no butterflies and something has gone wrong.
Also, AGAIN WITH THE YELLING! The old gray haired lady must have been very passionate about butterflies... Maybe she has spent her life trying, but not succeeding in her quest to create a sustainable environment for butterfly growth and wants better for the young bright eyed girl who's dream in life is to one day see a butterfly break from it's chrysalis in a future where there are no butterflies and the only cure for the horrible virus that is wiping out humanity is BUTTERFLIES!
Maybe these were the old grey haired lady's dying words and she's shouting because she is the only one who knows this and has to get it out before it's too late for humanity.
"Butterflies!" the young girl exclaimed. "It's been butterflies all along! Charles, we have to get to the lab NOW!"
Don't ask me where Charles came from, but he's her driver, and now they are on their way to the butterfly lab.
That is a great piece of thought progression if ever I saw I one. :-)

ReplyDeleteKevin something has gone seriously wrong at the BUTTERFLY SANCTUARY! When I left I would've sworn I locked the door but when I came back it was wide open and there was less than BUTTERFLIES!
ReplyDeleteCynthia that is unacceptable. I REFUSE to settle for ANYTHING less!
