Not responsible

Thank you jackjessee.com for the perfect illustration.
Driving to work this morning when I saw a truck, almost identical to the one in the image above. The gate was losing gravel just like this one, which happens all the time on every road in the world, but this one made me laugh.

On the gate was a letter size sticker that read "Not responsible for objects coming from road"... The sticker is obviously meant to thwart any legal action taken towards the company who owns the truck in the event of broken windshields, scratched paint, dead motorcyclists, etc., but the implications of a sticker like that makes my mind go to weird places.

To me, the company is admitting it's guilt in any situation that involves damage to vehicles, senior citizens in convertibles, who just happen to be behind the truck, but because this sticker in on the back the company is also saying that it is not "responsible". The funniest part to me was that it was written in text that was only legible if you were within about 15 feet of the back of the truck. I couldn't help but imagine that instead of gravel, this truck was transporting ball bearings and throwing stars.

Here's a list of real world scenarios where this type of sticker might become useful:
At a zoo! "Not responsible for murderous knife throwing chimpanzee."
At a nuclear power plant! "Not responsible for slow horrific death due to leaky reactor."
At a hospital! "Not responsible for accidental gender reassignment due to intoxicated surgeon."
At a dam! "Not responsible for water damage in case of dam failure."
At a bakery! "Not responsible for carcinogenic bread."
On Spaceship Orion! "Not responsible for falling rockets."
I'm sure it's only a matter of time before I see this same sticker posted on the back of a manufactured home being transported down the highway.
